Secondary/UTC/Studio School Applications for September 2027
Please ensure you have read our Step by Step Guide before you begin the application process as this will assist you in understanding the process. Applications for secondary school transfer (new Year 7), UTC and Studio Schools for September 2027 open on 1st September 2026 and close at midnight on 31st October 2026. The application window closes on 31st October each year. Please contact us on 0345 155 1019 or email us at transferadmissions@devon.gov.uk if you require a paper version of the application form to be sent to you. Applications received after 31st October will be considered late unless you can demonstrate that you were unable to apply on time, for example, because of illness or a house move. For illness to be taken into account, it must have prevented an application being made. If your child has an EHCP, the LA will name their secondary school in Section I of their plan. Please do not complete the mainstream admissions application unless you are applying for a mainstream school in another LA or Colyton Grammar School in Devon. The SEN Team should explain the process at your child’s Phase Transfer Review
In-Year School Applications

If you are applying for a place for September 2026 onwards, please enter a start date from 1st September onwards.
Please note that In-Year applications do not have a specific closing date; however, they can take up to 15 school days to process, particularly during busy periods. If you are unable to apply online and require a hard copy of the application form, please call us on 0345 155 1019 or email admissions@devon.gov.uk.
If your child has an EHCP and you are considering transferring schools mid year, you must contact your child's current school before making an application for an EHCP review. For further information on this please contact the SEND Operations Team at ehcp@devon.gov.uk
Primary/Infant/Junior School Applications for September 2027
Applications for Primary/Infant school into Reception & Junior School into Year 3 for September 2027 open on 15th November 2026 and close at midnight on 15th January 2027. Please contact us on 0345 155 1019 or email us at transferadmissions@devon.gov.uk if you require a paper version of the application form to be sent to you. Applications received after 15th January will be considered late unless you can demonstrate that you were unable to apply on time, for example, because of illness or a house move. For illness to be taken into account, it must have prevented an application being made.
